EMOTIONS
These dolls were created for an informal challenge.
Three women took a simple calico head and shoulders form and used this to express "Emotion".
I very rarely work on a single doll: they demand a community, a series to fully express an idea.
Here is my contribution to that challenge.

HEALTH WARNING
Our emotions can prevent us from healthy change and growth.
They can be self-sabotaging.
We cannot always choose the events that happen to us but we can choose how we respond.

HAND-PICKED EMOTIONS
Do emotions define me?
How do I choose an appropriate, mature response?
How do I choose an appropriate, mature response?
EMOTIONAL PARADOX
Can emotions and emotional responses be just one thing or another?
Who is in control?
How do I take responsibility for my emotions?
How do I allow them to accompany me as a soul-friend?

MIXED EMOTIONS
My emotions can leave me confused, frustrated, all of a bother,
not knowing even my own mind or my own heart.

BLESSINGS ON THE WIND
I cut apart the doll form and wrapped it with cotton twine.
I stacked them as a shrine or a cairn: a holy place.
I strung prayer flags, made of calico scraps, between two bamboo sticks.
"Feelings like disappointment, embarrassment, irritation, resentment, anger, jealousy and fear, instead of being bad news, are actually very clear moments that teach us where it is that we're holding back."
Pema Chodron
"We must look at our life without sentiments, exaggeration or idealism. Does what we are choosing reflect what we most deeply value?"
Jack Kornfield
"Instead of allowing ourselves to be led and trapped by our feelings, we should let them disappear as soon as they form, like letters drawn on water with a finger."
Dilgi Khyentse Rinpoche
"It is by striving ceaselessly to change our emotions, that we succeed in changing our temperament."
