The desire to move ...
the rhythm ...
the repetition ...
the choreography ...
the carnality ...
the sensuality ...
the expressiveness.
Dance seems to be an inherent human need.

There seems to be so much about dance that reflects life. The desire to move ... the rhythm ... the repetition ... the choreography ... the carnality ... the sensuality ... the expressiveness. Dance seems to be an inherent human need.

What do I allow to pollinate my life? How does pollination of ideas happen? Am I open to new ideas - cross-pollination? Am I open to others using my ideas as a springboard? What beauty will arise through such pollination? What responsibility do I have to make sure there is rich ground for pollination? I try to let gratitude infuse my life ... gratitude for my whanau and friends ... a warm home and sufficient to eat ... talents and giftedness ... brokenness and healing ... the gift of life. An attitude of gratitude is inspirational. Everything is seen through a different lens. All is seen as a gift ... waiting, wrapped, to be lovingly opened and revealed. Snow at sea-level in New Zealand is unexpected ... but it inspired this video clip. Recognising the uniqueness of the present moment is pure gift. I love the music of Julie Collier. It is so grounded in our New Zealand story. Her song Rawene Boys inspired a series of wrapped panels. I love all stages of the life cycle of living things ... and projects ... and ideas. I especially love picking a rose bud, watching it unfold, then change colours and finally wilt and fall ... and then still there are changes. It is breathtaking. It causes me to pause. I am enamoured with the idea of wrapping. Wrapping sometimes reveals more than it obscures. Wrapping involves layers ... a metaphor for the human condition, I think. Our world would be a happier place if we all relaxed and created. I believe that when we are compassionate, we reveal what it is to be fully human, and we reveal divine LOVE. We put ourselves in the shoes of another human being, and walk a mile in those shoes. Compassion is more than sympathy or empathy or tolerance or acceptance. Iit is sharing in the pain and passion of another. It is both being a witness and a participant in their lives. During "In The Pink" exhibitions, I was privileged;,honoured, and humbled to share the pain and the journey of others. HOT TEA is a yarn artist ... sometimes welcome ... sometimes commissioned ... other times not. I do love his interpretation of 'Letting Go". Using 2nd hand materials is a way I let go. |
