STEPPING OUT IN FAITH
I created a small panel based on a quilt by Bronwen Gibbs,
trying to teach myself some of the techniques she used.
It expresses for me the joy and the reluctance
as the process of mid-life becomes a reality in my life.
The panel reflects stepping out in faith and trust,
knowing God is with me.
I am approaching hidden landscapes.
The Israelites had to step out in faith into the Red Sea.
In the desert, God made a covenant with her people.
She offered them a new identity, a new destiny, a new relationship with the divine.
The Israelites first danced and rejoiced,
then rumbled, grumbled, yearned for the known.
Whenever I reach crossroads in my life,
change doesn't come without vacillation between
joy at being invited into a closer,
more intimate relationship with 'The-One-Who-Loved-Me-Into-Being',
and grumbling about the cost.
