to leave all behind you,
to let go of all that you think you love,
to step with open hands, open mind, open heart,
into possibility.

What courage it must take to begin again - to leave all behind you, to let go of all that you think you love, to step with open hands, open mind, open heart, into possibility.

How do we communicate our heart's desire - music? words? prayer? art? dance? silence? How do we realise our heart's desire? What is love?
What is it to be 'in love'? What is it that I love? How do I love honestly? with integrity? How is love manifested in our lives? How should I respond to love? I love clever, interesting, even enigmatic twists on the familiar. Such twists invite us to pause; to take notice - because the familiar can often cause us the 'switch off'; to compare; to laugh. Roald Dahl provides wonderful twists in his "Revolting Rhymes". On life On death On crying On atheism On blessings I find driftwood evocative. Where has it come from? What has it been? Who has touched it, shaped it, sat beside it? What will it become? It contains within it the essence of sea and sand and forest. It speaks of journey and shaping and survival. It is witness to brokenness and change. It is evidence of encounter - with humanity, with elements, with time. It contains within it an amazing story - how do we honour and continue this story? Coming to terms with the circle of life must be one of the most difficult aspects of being human. Some advertising tries to convince us that it can be avoided or circumvented. Retail therapy, drugs, alcohol, busyness help us avoid contemplating our humanity and our mortality. There is great joy in new life. There should also be great joy at the end of a life lived attentively and compassionately. Our life is our greatest gift ... let's treasure it, live it consciously and well. |
