An artist's story ... his muse ... his process ... his expression. What is our story ... our muse ... our process ... our expression? We all have stories to share. It is through sharing our stories that we are enriched, empowered, enabled. Listening to stories we are healed, motivated, encouraged, transformed. Each narrative is important. Each story reveals our humanity and enriches our community. My dolls express my narrative. How do you share yours? We are all pilgrims - on life's journey. All of us, too, are on a spiritual pilgrimage, although we name it differently. Some pilgrimages are solitary, others in community, others in throngs of thousands. How do we identify our goal? Are we motivated through fear or love? obedience or challenge? inquiry or curiosity? Are our pilgrimages seasonal? governed by time? Do we have guides on our pilgrimage? How do we record these pilgrimages? We need diversity to expand our insularity.
We need individuality to challenge convention. We need the fringe dwellers to expand our horizons. We need the non-conformists to expose our intransigence. We need the 'weird people' to reveal our humanity. We need to see the world through different eyes, to develop humility, compassion and gratitude. Something to ponder ...
for those who say they are not artists ... for those who think they are not creative ... for those who are stalled and need a kick-start ... for those who consider artists as a waste of space ... for those who doubt their creative vocation ... Let's reflect :-) Follow your passion ... become fully involved in life ... listen, look, absorb, reflect ... explore possibility, accept opportunity, challenge inertia ... share your story, your dreams, your talents ... think laterally, outside of imposed parameters ... dwell in wonder and awe ... develop appreciation and gratitude ... follow your passion. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We need to get the grammar right: the Holy Spirit is not only past tense, but present tense as well. We need to get the math right: the Holy Spirit of the New Testament equals the Holy Spirit of our present time and circumstances. We need to get the colours right: the Holy Spirit doesn't belong just to one race, but to all colours. We need to get the language right: the Holy Spirit doesn't just speak in our language, but in many tongues. We need to get the location right: the Holy Spirit doesn't belong only behind our closed church doors, but has burst out into the whole world. If the Holy Spirit is not confined, then how can we tell where the spirit is present? Just keep your eyes and ears open for the fire and the breath of new life! Fr Jude Siciliano op A visual delight ... a contemplation ... choreographed art? I love the image of a 'wilder woman' :-)
I have created neck warmer dolls called 'Wild women like to hang about' and dolls to parade called 'Wild women like to dance' :-) Perhaps there is something of the wild woman in each of us - how do we set her free? |
