to greet and meet the challenges in our life ...
to follow the road less travelled ...
to become the person we were created to be.

It takes great courage to live our life fully ... to greet and meet the challenges in our life ... to follow the road less travelled ... to become the person we were created to be.

Let us treasure the little things in life ...
a daisy in a field ... a moment of sunshine on a rainy day ... the industry of ants scurrying along a path ... an unexpected caup of tea ... tender care when we are unwell. Let us treasure the beauty of another ... no matter how old ... or frail ... or small ... or grumpy ... or unusual. Hospitality is the essence of being human ...
sharing ... fellowship ... support ... comapanionship ... service ... a witness to our lives. Michael Leunig captures this beautifully. Rumi, the poet, speaks from the heart ... and to the heart. His poetry is a love song ... a heart song. An invitation to dance with a circle of lovers... to live ... to celebrate with others. Nature needs no-one to speak for it ... its very existence speaks eloquently to us each and every day. But ... we are driven to celebrate its beneficence ... and its wisdom ... and its variety ... and its sense of humour! Animal Antics is one such attempt to express the inexpressible! Mary Oliver uses words to express the wonder of our world. Poet David Whyte wrote this poem for his dear friend, John O'Donohue, who died recently. Farewells are a normal part of living ... children leaving home ... marriages ending ... parents dying ... moving house ... changing jobs ... losing health or mobility or sanity. Creating with words or paint or textiles or gardens or stone or ... anything ... can aid the healing process. It is New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) week here in New Zealand. NZSL is one of three official languages here in Aotearoa. Creativity is another language ... it speaks at a heart level ... and we all speak it. Dollmaking gives me a voice ... another language. When we stand together, anything can happen!
When my daughter wanted to hold an exhibition to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness, everyone came together to make it happen. And it changed lives. When we stand together to stop domestic violence, no woman or child will ever be hurt again. Let's stand together ... now. Music from the heart always inspires. The falling leaves
Drift by the window The autumn leaves All red and gold I see your lips The summer kisses The sunburned hands I used to hold. Since you went away The days grow long... And soon I'll hear Old winter songs But I miss you most of all My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall... Since you went away The days grow long... And soon I'll hear Old winter songs But I miss you most of all My darling, when autumn leaves start to fall... Films that pull me out of my self-interest; that ignite a passion; that instil hope; that motivate me to change ... illustrate the power of art to heal while at the same time transforming suffering into something beautiful. The most potent messages stand the test of time. |
