"100 DAY" PROJECTS
Over the years,
I have set myself several "100 day" projects.
Several reasons prompted this activity:
to kick-start creativity,
to use up the fabric stash,
to participate in a national or international project,
to prepare for an exhibition or arts residency,
to play,
to experiment,
to challenge myself.

There is a profusion of "100 day" projects available on-line.
Instagram is a popular site.

There are also many publications
written to stimulate the creative voice.
My favourite is
"Unstuck" by Noah Scalin.

So what projects have I done?
The Prayer Flag project
which I posted on the 365 website.
Created in 2011 and 2012.
Diaspora
which started out as a 'doll-a-day' project
but became much deeper:
in essence, a reflection on what may have been my family history/herstory,
Created in 2017.
"The Rainbow Connection"
which was my creative preparation for an Arts Residency in the summer of 2013/2104.
The Quotidian Doll blog
A new doll posted daily for a year or more ...
From April 1st, 2013
A Breast Labyrinth
knitted to raise awareness and support
for Breast Cancer initiatives.
This has at present 192 knitted breasts.
Created in 2010 and 2011.
A wrapped rock labyrinth
where I have wrapped a tiny pebble with torn strips of fabric,
yarn and thread,
exploring the essence of who I am,
who we are.
Each layer represents an aspect of my being
spiritual,
physical,
sexual,
intellectual,
emotional.
When we strip away, or lose, one faculty
do we lose the essence of our being?
Created in 2017/2018.
Gratitude Flowers
is my current obsession.
I began this one on January 1st 2022
and hope to go for a whole year!
As I create each flower from fabric scraps,
and raid my button collection,
I think deeply about on thing I am grateful for that day.
A refreshment for the soul!

Some projects I have undertaken
started out innocently as one-of-a-kind
but morphed into something bigger!
Shades of Gray is one such series.
It began life using up a charity shop find of grey polar fleece
to create a doll in support of the Cancer Society.
It grew into over 60 dolls, both male and female.
