Greening: a lenten journey
GREENING: A LENTEN JOURNEY
Held in the hand of LOVE
For me, the Christian season of Lent is about
resting in the hand of the divine;
being held in LOVE;
recognising and acknowledging growth and change;
actively participating in a life-giving relationship;
accompanying hurt and death and burial because from these new life emerges;
trusting the foundations of my belief system;
being present to myself, to others, and to God;
adorning myself with HOPE.
I took a length of print fabric,
a handful of flowers to match,
and manipulated a doll form to express my greening:
my journey to LIFE.

"Who knows if God will not leave a blessing as she passes"
I seek alertness:
to become aware of what is around me;
to be attentive to my blessings;
to look and feel and hear and taste and smell and intuit my blessings;
to develop a heightened awareness; which I pray will
lead to a growing sense of gratitude.

"Choose life."
I choose to live ...
an active engagement with the world;
with consciousness, mindfulness, and attentiveness;
with joy in my heart.

"... to break unjust fetters
and undo the thongs of the yoke ...
then your light will shine like the dawn
and your wound be quickly healed over."
I will undo the thongs of ...
fear: loneliness, ill-health, poverty;
anger: divorce, church, selfishness;
hoarding: there is freedom in release;
resentment: covetousness, comparison; and
apathy: depression, inertia, wishful thinking.

"...your light will rise in the darkness,
and your shadows become like noon."
and your shadows become like noon."
"and even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord
with nothing on my tongue
but
HALLELUJAH"
