BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Any issue that impacts upon the lives of women, impacts upon the lives of their families and their communities.
Breast Cancer is an issue that is close to my heart. It is essential that women, and their families, are made aware of the issues around Breast Cancer. There are so many aspects that need to be explored, aired and discussed. Things such as self-examination, mammograms and other medical interventions, support, alternative therapies, diet, meditation, and self-care.
There are an infinite number of ways of communicating ideas to others. I have chosen to use textiles, especially dolls, to introduce women and the community to some of the issues close to my heart.
Most of these dolls have been shown twice in Rotorua, New Zealand. In 2007 and 2010, my daughter and I presented "In The Pink" exhibitions in vacant stores. Now I offer them as an on-line exhibition.
