The first official casualty of the attack on the World Trade Centre, New York,
on September 11th, 2001, was an elderly Franciscan priest.
He had just administered the last rites to a fireman
who had been struck by the body of a woman who had jumped from the towers.
His name was Father Mychal Judge OFM,
and he was chaplain of the New York Fire Department.
