Follow

Follow your heart.
Follow your dream.
Follow your intuition.
Follow your gut instinct.

Follow the star.
Follow the Word.
Follow the shepherd.
Follow the way.

Follow a lead.
Follow a hunch.
Follow advice.
Follow the yellow brick road!

When we follow in a spirit of charity and comapassion,
LOVE is revealed,
GOD is revealed,
the DIVINE is revealed.

May we encounter the divine today as we follow our life's path.

Rebirth

Daffodils are a symbol for rebirth and new beginnings.
In every breath we take, every thought we entertain, every step we take, every night we sleep there is a rebirth: a bringing forth, a birthing, of the person we are created to be.
Like the bulb or seed that lays deep in the soil, apparently asleep or inactive, we, too, are full of promise, of potential. We need these times of dark to allow deep formation work to take place in our heart room.
May there be a pause in your day where you become aware of a new beginning in your life.

Happiness

Happiness can only come from within.
External objects, people  or places cannot bring lasting happiness.
How we feel effects  how we perceive the world.
Steve Chandler says,

"When I am happy, I see happiness in others.
When I am depressed, I notice that other people's eyes look sad.
When I am weary, I see the world as boring and unattractive."

May you find and nurture the happiness that dwells within
and may this precious jewel radiate to all you meet today.

Challenge

Each of us faces challenges every day. Sometimes simple, straight-forward challenges that we respond to almost without thinking. Sometimes difficult, life-altering challenges that push us to our limits.
Daniel Ladinski in "Love Poems From God" says

There are beautiful wild forces within us.
Let them turn the mills inside
and fill
sacks

that feed even
heaven.

May you tap into these wild forces today as you encounter the challenges of daily living.

Wonder

Wonder ...
a cause to pause;
to look closely and consciously;
to appreciate;
to marvel;
to welcome;
to cherish;
to carry in a heart filled with gratitude.
Wonder .. pure gift.

May your day be filled with a cause to pause and wonder.

Interrelated

Martin Luther King Jr .said,

"In a real sense, all life is interrelated.
All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality,
tied in a single garment of destiny.
Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.

I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be,
and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.

This is the interrelated structure of reality."

May today be a blessing-filled day, when you accompany someone
as they journey towards becoming what they ought to be.

Detach

Do you sometimes find it hard to relinquish something once it is past its 'use by' date? A beloved item of clothing or footwear? A coffe cup, chipped or cracked? A house, loved and known, oozing memory from every board? I struggle with letting physical objects go. But even more so, I wrestle with the gift of detachment: of not allowing something or someone or some ideology, ownership over me to the point that I am unable to surrender it up. This is not about not loving or caring or a lack of commitment. For me, it is more about living passionately, RIGHT NOW, in this moment, so that if everything I cherish disappears, I can still continue to live fully RIGHT NOW.

Lifelines

What is your lifeline? What sustains you when desolation overwhelms you? My lifeline is the presence of God, so close I can feel the divine embrace. It brings me to tears to know I am loved so much. Here is a poem from Karl Rahner, given to me by a friend, a precious embodiment of Love.

Can it really be possible
we are so tightly bonded
that our breath is one breath?

Can it be You are intertwined
in every thought of mine
that steps into consciousness?

Can it be that Your great love
forever mingles with my own?

If so, I gladly lose myself
in the closeness of Your presence.

Focus

22/4/2012

One of many definitions of FOCUS is "a point upon which attention is directed or concentrated".
For me, focus is setting aside the almighty God of 'multi-tasking', and focusing my mind, my heart, my spirit and my body on a single intention.
So it means that when the phone rings, I do not continue to wash the dishes, then get in the washing, feed the dog and boil the kettle. Rather, it invites me to sit and give my undivided attention to the speaker at the other end of the line. To focus all that I am and all I am called to be into this conversation. And in this focus, LOVE is revealed.
