Wait in line.
Wait in time.
These can be sacred moments:
encounters with God-with-skin-on;
encounters with God-ever-present.
May blessings rain down upon us as we queue today.

We all have to queue.
Wait in line. Wait in time. These can be sacred moments: encounters with God-with-skin-on; encounters with God-ever-present. May blessings rain down upon us as we queue today.

Some days nothing seems to make sense.
Some days the given formulas simply do not work. Some days the old definitions no longer satisfy. Some days I stuggle to find an answer. And then a pearl will come along that radiates a different light, an altered beauty and I pause. The pearl I found was this poem by Daniel Ladinsky, interpreting Rabia. Since no one really knows anything about God, those who think they do are just troublemakers. May grace drench you as you rest in the joy of not knowing. Marcel Proust said,
"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." May we be filled with delight and discovery as we see the world through different eyes. Sometimes events or emotions or expectations or simply the aging process can flatten us like a wave at the beach. We fall, often exhausted, often fearful or winded, wondering. But we can also feel exhilerated, determined, challenged, alive.
In "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", Evelyn writes, "It's like a wave; resist and you go under, ride it out and you arrive at the other side." May we be blessed today as we ride the wave of life: consciously, actively, attentively. Let's pray simply.
Divine love. Reveal who you are. Help me to see you in the actions of others. May I reveal you in my actions and words. Help me to forgive others. Teach me to be grateful for all that I have. May our day be an encounter with divine love. "All that matters," writes D.H.Lawrence,
"is to be at one with the living God. To be a creature in the house of the God of Life." Am I true to what I was created to be? Am I comfortable in the house of life? Am I at one with myself? Am I at one with the divine? May we creatures be blessed as we dwell in the house of life. Since there is no rice
in the begging bowl I put in flowers Basho May the flowers in our life bless us. "Desire change. Be enthusiastic for that flame
in which a thing escapes your grasp while it makes a glorious display of transformation. That designing Spirit, the master mind of all things on earth loves nothing so much in the sweeping movement of the dance as the turning point." From 'Sonnets to Orpheus: 11' (Stanza 1) by Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by David Steindl-Rast May we all be blessed as we encounter change in our lives. May we delight in the transformation. What are the barriers
that keep me from full and active participation in my life? Consider ... fear apathy comfort indolence timidity arrogance poverty indoctrination Let us acknowledge and reflect upon the barriers in our lives. Let us thank them for the protection they have afforded us. Let us remove them ... atom by atom. May we be blessed as we engage in our brave new world. Life is a privilege, not a right.
May we never abuse this privilege. May we never take it for granted. May we never deny this privilege to others. May we use this privilege for the good of all living things. May we be grateful for this privilege. May we be humbled that we are chosen. May we be in awe at the privilege bestowed us. We are blessed. |
