It is a blurry and constantly moving line.
I use the human form as a starting point.
Sometimes this form is dressed. Sometimes not.
Always the objects are the result of
reflection on and contemplation of
life's events and interactions.
Always they reflect transformation and healing.
The textile creations I make are a far cry from
porcelain beauties which adorn many a lounge or boudoir,
and the plastic travesties that masquerade as dolls.
Recently I read an article in Zone One Arts
highlighting the sculpture of Yulia Ustinova.
These buxom crocheted human forms reflect the daily lives of women.
They remind me of my Euphrosyne and Blue Belles.
So ... sculpture or doll?
Does it matter?
But isn't Yulia's work a wonderful source of inspiration:-)
